Why do acoustic guitars need moisture?!

Question:

Why do acoustic guitars need moisture?

for example some people go out and buy humidifiers for their guitar. I thought that you were supposed to keep it dry. I bought a beautiful black acoustic, it has that glaze, but im not sure what conditions it should be in, its real humid in Florida. I just keep it in my case most of the time.

Answers:

The humidifier isn't just to keep the guitar moist. It's also to draw excess moisture out of the air in the case. If the humidity level isn't right, the guitar's neck can warp, and also the veneer on the body of the guitar can start to peel up due to the string tension. It's always a good idea to get one if you live in either a really dry or really humid area.
