How do you think children are affected by television/media?!

How do you think children are affected by television/media?

The media have become less "kid-friendly" over the years. Children movies are full of adult humor and stupid comedy. Music is starting to become provocative and songs that are not aimed for kids are advertised as kid songs (Kidz Bop that has kids singing songs from/like Shakira, My Hump, etc). Television has become ok for kids 5 and under but for the rest of the kids they have to live with shows that there is always an extremely stupid person, a snobby person, and a selfish protagonist who seems to make any mistake "work."
I think children are learning that modesty is unfashionable and its okay to be snobby/rude because you'll still have friends in the long run. What do you think?

note: I didn't say Shakira wasn't an artist or "talented" I said that its not suitable for children, which she isn't.

yeah, it's true. i think a lot of kids' shows are full of stupid comedy nowadays, whether the comedy itself is stupid (fart jokes? please) or the characters are (for example, somebody acts or does something really moronic and then everybody's supposed to laugh). there doesn't seem to be a lot of good stuff for an audience older than eight but younger than sixteen. after they've outgrown blue's clues, what are they supposed to watch before they get to family guy? i'd hate to think that crap like spongebob is their only option between the two.
