Does anyone know "how" to pick out a guitar for a beginner?!

Does anyone know "how" to pick out a guitar for a beginner?

I want to start playing guitar. I have played violin before so I know how to read music. Does anyone know of a good instruction book and how to choose an acoustic guitar? What do I need to buy with it? Any info will help. I just posted another question right before this so if you can answer that one too! Thanks

^Do *not* get a first act guitar. Seriously, they're crap, no offence. Fall apart easily, get out of tune fast, don't sound very good...my sister had one and seriously. Ugggh.

Yay for wanting to learn guitar! It's an awesome instrument, and I love it. I'd recommend going to a music store near you, and asking people what they recommend. Don't start out buying the most expensive guitar- get something fairly inexpensive (not..first act. egh. lol) but that is pretty good. There are some good relatively cheap Fender Strats out there.. and Fender is a good brand. I've seen cool looking Daisy Rock guitars, but I'm not too sure about the quality. I myself have some knock off brand I got off of Ebay and it's fairly decent, but I really want a new one. My acoustic was my mom's, and it's around 25 years old. xD it's hard to play to say the least.
