I have REALLY old records and newspapers in full of major old events. Where can I get the real value so I can think about selling them for the right price?

Frequently, people who go to events like the antique road show are disappointed that the items they have horded for years turn out to be less than they hoped, unless they are extremely rare. If you go to even places like ebay(tm) you can do the research to look up these items yourself to provide a ball park value. Then at times unbeknowst to you the item you least expect is valuable.
