Coogan Trust - Requires Certified Birth Cert - Where to get one for a Russian?!

Question:

Coogan Trust - Requires Certified Birth Cert - Where to get one for a Russian?

Those of you that have children working in the entertainment industry have to establish a "Coogan Trust" after receiving a Work Permit from the state.

The bank is requiring a certified birth certificate to open the account.

Our daughter was born in Russia, we have a certified translation from a translator, but the bank (BOA) is demanding that the birth certificate be certified by the USA!

They (the INS/Dept of Homeland Security) will not certify a Russian birth certificate and have no means to do so.

We have the original birth certificate, her translation of same, her permanet resident card, and her original Visa docs with the same birthdate.

Can someone recommend a bank that will accept what we have?

This trust has to be established within 10 days of receipt of the work permit or it is void. No way would we get into see the INS in 10 days when people are waiting MONTHS for thier passports!

Help?? Thanks!

You all need to excuse Bryce. He was dropped on his head as a child and fed only grub worms. It's ok Bryce, you can still find help if you want to. Oh, and please stop wearing my wife's clothes!

Answers:

If you have the original birth certificate from Russia, it will have a large stamp on it from the "organization of birth records". That is a certified copy and the bank must accept it if you have a correct (certified) translation of the birth record (including the registration information).

If you want to email me, I can provide you with an email address and we can discuss specifics in private.
