Insults to Music?

I was reading an article about the fat opera singer who won that tallent show. Hes outselling The Enemy 5 -1 at the minute. Its just TV making easy money as they know some fools are going to buy it for the sake of it! TV shouldn't rule the charts. The Enemy have worked tirelessly for years to get that top spot and what for? An overnight opera muppet to take the piss! Any suggestions welcome.............

Unfortunately since the increasing power of the major labels and the decline of independent production, most bands these days are formulaic as to what the labels believe the audience wants. This inevitably stifles bands talents as they are blackmailed into producing records the record company wants rather than the music they REALLY want to be playing. I have little knowledge of The Enemy, and I hope they are a small band on an independent label forging their music in the style they feel is them. However bands like the Kaiser Chiefs, The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand et al are mass produced formulaic bands that are really no better than The Spice Girls and the dross spewed out by Simon Cowel and his friends on these crass, banal and mundane TV programmes.

I always feel that if a band is to be successful (in my eyes) then they must have done at least 12 months on the road in the back of a transit van in Eastern Europe. Trust me its character building. Mind, I did it for 3 years with no success so maybe I'm just bitter and twisted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
