What's the difference between all the types of Electronic Music? I can't tell the difference between them
I recently got immersed into the whole DJ culture. I'm not a DJ, but I hear my DJ friends talk about one mixing only Electro and the other one mixes only Trance, the other one just Minimal... etc. but when I listen to it, I can't tell the difference!!!
The only one I can tell is Drum & Bass and that's it... the other ones seem the same to me, but my friends all look at me like I can't tell red from white...

and they have version 2.5. You can click on a genre, ie house, techno, and it will give you an interactive family tree of sub genres and where they started. There is also a box with a detailed description and audio samples. Welcome to the world of electronic music. It can be daunting, but just listen to everything you can, it will get easier. Hint: minimal is quintessential Richie Hawtin.
