I'm looking for the name of a commedian - Asian descent, born and raised in the US, in one routine he says that someone came up to him and said, "Hey, you speak English real good, no accent.
His reply was, "Thanks, 30 years and using those language tapes really paid off."

I think his family was originally from either China or Japan - and he didn't do any pidgin or "bad Enlgish with heavy accent" bits (at least not that I saw).
