Man, you just read my thoughts!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Perhaps, but probably not!. Although that ability is called x-ray vision the term was coined on the Superman radio program about 1940 and is apparently a misnomer; I see no reason to believe that x-rays are actually involved in the process!. For some reason, Superman is able to see through most objects, with the exception of lead, and he sees things with his so-called x-ray vision in color which leads me to believe that some other principle is at work!. X-ray photography is basically in black and various shades of gray, with material which is easily penetrated by radiation leaving lighter gray areas on the x-ray plates and material which is harder for radiation to penetrate, like bone, leaving very dark areas on x-ray plates!. If radiation plays any part in the so-called x-ray vision, it must be an extremely broad spectrumed ratiotion to produce images using all three primary colors and mixtures of those three primary colors!. Basically, the question can't be answered because there is no Superman, and there is no such thing as ''x-ray vision!.'' Superman is a fictional character who appears in science-fantasy stories, meaning that although the stories have some of the trappings of science the vast array of Superman's inherent impossible abilities are not governed by scientific principles but by fantasy!. Superman may as well use magic to see through objects instead of some form of unknown radiation!. His other powers work on the principle of ''suspension of disbelief,'' so I suspect that his x-ray vision works the same way!. It is always a mistake to attempt to explain the details of fantasy using the scientific method, and I don't know which is more remarkable, that you can accept Superman at all, or that you can accept him only to the point where he seems to blatantly violate a scientific principle!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I believe when the character was first created, no thought was given to that aspect!. But I've noticed in a few stories of late that he uses it on people sparingly for that very reason!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
