Why do people get obsessed over anime character's birthdays?!

Question: Why do people get obsessed over anime character's birthdays!?
Seriously, like!.!.!.today is L's b-day!. Okay, no biggie, it's just an ANIME character's b-day for god's sake!.!.!.And people treat it like it's their b-day or something!. It's not like I have anything against L or anything, in fact, L kicked @$$!! I love him! XD but I don't think there's any point getting obsessed over any anime character's b-day!.

What do you think!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
It's not the character's BIRTHDAY they're obsessed with, it's the character themselves!. Some people really like certain characters like they would a close friend, so it makes sense for them to wish them a happy birthday, even if they are fictional!. People do things for celebrity's birthdays all the time, I don't see it as a big deal!.
EDIT;; I can see what your saying about celebs being real!. But that's what I'm trying to say!. Some people think of fictional characters as real for the time that they're watching/reading it!. They become real to them, I guess you could say!. also, either way they're celebrating the birth of someone they don't know!. Regardless of being fictional or not!. Which is why I brought it up!.
also, I like to add that saying "happy birthday *insert name here*!" on a forum or making a quick graphic saying it can't be considered 'obsessing' over their birthday!. And if they go out of their way to make cake or something for it, then it's probably just an excuse to eat cake!.!. xD
The way I see it, to each their own!. You might think "God, it's a fictional character, people!.!.!." but some people don't see it that way!.
Oh, and it's kind of the author/manga-ka's fault for saying their birth date!. If the fans didn't know it they wouldn't celebrate it!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It could be L's colonoscopy date and fans would go nuts!.

This is how it works!. If fans can have a reason to obsess ridiculously over their character, they'll find it and abuse it if they have to!.

However, this brings up another point!. How necessary is it to put a character's birth date into a bio!? It's like mentioning their blood type, it's completely useless!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Let me discuss this in terms of Ariel, the Little mermaid

To me, Ariel is not merely ink-and-paint, but flesh and blood!. I see her and think of her as a real person!. She brings something to my life and makes me feel happy!.

So, I want to treat her as a real person, so i will celebrate her birthday!.

I may not feel the same way about Sailor Moon or Naru Narusegawa or Princess Pacifica Casull, but I understand the feelings that other people have for these characters and the depth of emotional commitment given

I don't think people are actually "obsessed" over anime characters birthdays, it's just something to do!. It's entertaining sometimes just to be silly like that!. No harm done, I don't do it mainly because I can never remember stuff like that anyway!. Some just find it fun and it stops the boredom on here sometimes too!. :)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well!.!.!.thats really strange cause you are the first person who has ever even mentioned it, as far as i know, ppl get obsessed wid them cause overtime anime charaters become sorta friends for us anime luvin people and so we tend to remember them!.!.!.hopes thata answers ur question!Www@Enter-QA@Com

sorry, but I don't function on a made-up person's life!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

People love what they love what wrong with that as long as its not harming anyone let them love it to till they dropWww@Enter-QA@Com
