Just so you know, Japanese Comics are referred to as Manga!. And yes, I am a big fan of manga!. They are much better than a bunch of idiotic muscleheads in spandex fighting the same corny villains over and over and over!.!.!.!.!.!.!. ***cough*** American Comics **cough cough**
BTW, It's good to see some MANGA questions popping up, since I much prefer reading the actual manga with the direct story than watching the anime!.
Anyway, my favorites are!.!.!.!.!.!.
Hellsing!. The most awesome manga on planet earth!. The story revolves around Alucard, a rogue vampire who works for the Hellsing Organization founded by Abraham Van Helsing!. This organization protects England and the Queen from all the vampires and other fiends that roam the night that may endanger the Queen and her country!. Alucard soon gets entangled in a web of events and he is continually getting enemies!. As the story unfolds, more and more people come into the story and soon there is a huge massacre with lots of blood and gore!. NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!. But if you don't mind alot of blood and gore, and maybe some language here and there, then I highly recommend this manga!. Even though it is highly popular, I still feel it is underrated!. That's how good it is!.
My next favorite is Death Note!.
It is about Light Yagami, a teenager who is bored out of his mind, who suddenly finds a book called the Death Note!. It says that whosever name is written in the book dies and it also includes many more details on using the book, but I will not spoil them for you!. Skeptical, Light writes a name in the book and the person is killed before his eyes!. In a state of shock, he soon decides that he will use the book to rid the world of evil!. But even if you are killing people for the greater good, murder is still murder!. So the authorities soon send their top detective, known as L, to track down Light!. It soon becomes a huge battle of wits as Light continuously tries to stay one step ahead of L and his agents!!!
The last one I will give you is Bleach!. I would tell you about the story/plot, but my fingers are exhausted lol!. So if you wanna read about it, here's a link!.!.!.!.!.!.
