Well I dont know about similar story but the guy who drew howls moving castle(miyazaki san) has drawn(in my opinion some better then howls moving castle) others like:
Spirited Away(my personal fav)
Princess Mononoke(its not about a princess btw)
Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind(his first major work)
Kikis delivery service(sweet)
Laputa: Castle in the Sky(adventurous)
My neighbor Totoro( So cute)
And his most recent one(not in america yet) Ponyo on the cliff by the sea
and another drawer in Ghibli drew Grave of the fireflies(vary sad)
and other good japanese animations:
Metropolis( sad)
The girl the lept through time(She just makes it worse everytime she goes back in time)
5 centimeters per second (will she still wait for him!?)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Try "Spirited Away!." Its made by the same people but not nearly as good as "Howl's Moving Castle!."
