Just kidding!. It's been a long time since I watched it, but if I remember correctly when Neo tried to destroy him in the first movie he actually just separated him from the Matrix program!. As a separate entity he started absorbing other people into his program until he was as powerful as he was at the end!. Apparently, at the end of the video game for Revolution he actually has an even higher level where all the Agent Smiths climb together and make a giant version!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
