Question: What are some rags to riches anime!?
I'm writing a paper for my writing class and the assignment is an informal research paper!. She left the topic open so I figured that I would write an essay about anime that centers around the rags-to-riches plots!. I mean: an ordinary person who finds themselves in extraordinary circumstances (think 'cinderella')!. So far I've come up with:
-Bleach (Ichigo gains Soul Reaper powers)
-Death Note (Light gets the power of a shinigami)
-DN Angel (Daisuke becomes a 'phantom thief')

-Yuusuke of Yuyu Hakusho-
He was an ordinary student, until he was hit by a car, died & came back to earth to be a ghost detective!. He gained & learned powers little by little, until such time that he became one of the strongest creature!.!.!.
-Sakura Kinimoto of Cardcaptor Sakura-
An ordinary elementary student who became a cardcaptor because she opened up a book that contains a set of cards!. As she collects cards,her magic grew,until such time that she became the card mistress
-Aya of Ayashi no Ceres- (sorry,i forgot her whole name)
she didn't know that she came from a descendant of fairy!. on her 16th bday she & her twin brother was faced with the truth by a horrible way!.
-Miaka Yuuki of Fushigi Yuugi-
she is a lazy student who only loves food, that is until she was sucked in a book that bought her to ancient china!. From there she became a priestess, who needs to save the country from falling to the enemy's hands!.
-Haruhi Fujioka of Ouran High School Host Club-
an ordinary student who got accepted in the super rich school, she accidentally broke an expensive vase when she entered the host club room!. For her to pay the vase she had to work & thereon became a host to!. from an ordinary life, she now found herself being one with the elite people in the school all because of a simple accident!.
-Hitomi Kanzaki of Vision of Escaflowne-
she is a good runner,an ordinary student who knows how to do fortune telling, Little did she know that her grandma have a hidden past that will bring her to other places!. With her fortune telling skills, she try to help & discover the secrets behind the world of Gaea!.

Princess Tutu - Ahiru, a duck, is transformed into a normal girl, who in turn can transform into "Princess Tutu" --a good anime despite the rather off-putting title and premise!.
Saiunkoku Monogatari - Shuurei, a very poor girl, becomes concubine to the emperor!.!.!. for a while at least!. After that stage in her life she strives to become the first female government official, and that is as far as I've watched!.
Ouran Koukou Host Club - Haruhi, a normal (not rich) person, gets into an elite school for the wealthy on a scholarship!.
