They send a three-person crew to protect her: a hot-headed woman anmed Mao as the team leader, a womanizing guy named Kutz Weber, who is essentially designated the pilot of the team's cloakable mech (though all three are capable pilots), and Sousuke Sagara, who is sent undercover as a high school transfer student to keep an eye on Miss Chidori at all times when she is away from home!.
Unfortunately, Sousuke joined a resisance movement in a Middle Eastern war when he was only 8 years old, and has been a soldier ever since!. So he's severly lacking in common sense in everyday social situations!. He routinely gets caught bringing guns to school (despite guns being illegal for anyone outside police and military in Japan), is horrible at coming up with excuses for being near Miss Chidori at all hours of the day, and misinterprets simple actions such as tripping in Miss Chidori's direction as lunging at her intending to take her life!. Obvilously, she gets quite annoyed by him, but also finds his awkwardness strangely charming, and she can't really begrudge him too much after he does save her life a few times, both from the terrorists and from more mundane situations like getting hit by a truck!.
The second series, FMP: Fumoffu, is 13 episodes of pure comedy, showing the wackiness Sousuke brings to everyday school life, and takes place inbetween episodes of the original series!.
