Yes it is very much true!. His left eye was given to him by Obito as a death wish!. Obito was crushed under a rock!. Obito Uchiha was Kakashi's team mate when he was on a four person team with the leadership of Naruto's father Minato Namikaze better known as the 4th hokage!. The transaction was performed by Rin a medical ninja on there team, who also is either dead of MIA!.

Yes it's true!. The eye belonged to his teammate Obito who was an Uchiha!. During the ninja war, Obito was crushed by a rock slide and since he was dieing, he told Kakashi he wanted him to have his eye!. Rin, their other teammate, made the transplant!. yes its true, its his freind's eye, his name was obito uchiha!. Obito died during a misson with Kakashi and gave him his sharingan eye, as they were basically best buds!.

It's true that the Sharingan wasn't Kakashi's if u meant that when u said "left eye" It's actually one his old buddy's name Obito!. That how Kakashi got a Sharingan!.
