Which Robotech series is the one with Scott Bernard on earth?!

I'm familiar enough with the first series and the history of the Robotech series enough that I know He wasn't in the Macross Saga!. Years ago the local PBS channel was showing Robotech late at night (Wouldn't it be great if PBS played more Anime!?) with Scott Bernard but I don't remember which series that was so I can acquire it!. As I recall he was the only "military" guy there and had a little foundling crew he ran around with that he'd picked up along the way!.
