In the anime, Sloth was created when the Elric brothers tried to revive their mother, Trisha Elric!. Sloth is able to assume a watery composition, which she can use to drown others by grabbing hold of them!. Sloth constantly suffers from memories of raising the Elric brothers!. first off his mom died of a diseas and she did not tell any one then he and alphonse tried to bring her back to life using alchemy!. trying to make a livable body for her spirit to live in!.
And the result was the really ugly thing that scared me half to death!.
and ed lost a leg and a arm (he is still soooo cuuuute though :3) and alphonse lost his body and in the end of the whole series everything has changed!. Alphonse has no memories of what happened and has a body!. thats all i know!.

Ed and Al's mother dies of a disease when they are both very young!. Ed and Al use their fathers alchemic knowledge to try to bring her back to life, but instead create a horrible monster!. In the manga, Winry's grandmother kills and buries the creature!. So their mother, Trisha, is gone and the creature they made was just a horrible creation!. Sloth, in the manga, is a big burly guy who isn't too bright, and digs underground to create a transmutation circle!.
