Yes, it's true!. There was first a purportedly leaked management document released on July which listed FMA animator Yasuhiro Irie as Hagane 2 Kantoku(Iron/Fullmetal 2) director!. The president of BONES studio Masahiko Minami, which produced the anime series, released a statement saying that such a document with the same format did not exist within the company, meaning that probably it wasn't true!. He then commented with these exact words: "It hasn't been decided yet!. We are interested in doing them!. As original science-fiction works, they were extremely fascinating!. With these kinds of dramatic story lines, I feel that there's a lot we could do potentially!."
The new series was just recently confirmed and the announcement was made in the 20th volume of the manga by Hiromu Arakawa and has a release date set for April, 2009!.

Yup its true, According to Moonphase Diary, a new Fullmetal Alchemist series has been confirmed!.
