Is Cartoon Network the death of anime in America?!

Question: Is Cartoon Network the death of anime in America!?
Does anyone else agree with me that Cartoon Network will be the death of anime!? They show like very few anime, and anyone who watches those anime automatically thinks they know everything about anime and Japan!. Look it up here on yahoo answers! Any time someone asks for a new anime, almost all the replys are "Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, or Death Note"!. These anime get alot of attention because thats all Cartoon Network shows, and other anime get thrown aside!. Noien was a great show on sci-fi, but it has hardly gotten any recognition!. Karas was AMAZING!!!!!! and yet, you try to talk about it at a convention and people ask you what it is, and what time does CN show it (true story)! I used Amidamaru (the name of the samurai from Shaman King) in a video game, and im always getting messages that i've misspelled akamaru (the dog from Naruto)!.

Does anyone else agree with me!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I absolutely 100% believe that Cartoon Network is the death of Anime in America!. I can give a perfect example too!. Back when Dragonball Z was aired on cartoon network the dubbed voice overs were absolutely shitty!. They also had to cut out a huge portion of fights because they believed it to be too gory!. The beauty of japanese anime is they find perfect voices for the characters!. The emotion goes beautifully with the anime!. Now the dubbed version of anime on cartoon network is just pathetic!. There sounds like there is absolutely no emotion in any of the characters!. When i find an anime show that I like i make sure that it is japanese subbed in english!. You will find that that any japanese anime show subbed is so much more entertaining especially Dragonball Z, Naruto, and Bleach!. And they don't show a lot of the great anime episodes that are aired in Japan!. The only show I believe they did a decent job with is Inuyasha because they are consistent the whole time!.!.!.!.still no comparison to the Japanese subbed version!. Anime in America should be Japanese subbed in english!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Living in Japan I can safely say that Cartoon Network won't be the death of anime!. People seem to think that for some reason the Japanese produce it for the world market!. The truth is that they couldn't care less!. The anime that does well internationally makes more money but programs which you have never even heard of over here make more than enough to survive!. You may well be watching subtitled versions done by University students on the internet in the future but the market will never go down here!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The Japanese do not need to market there anime in America in order to make a profit on it!.
Most of there Anime comes from a Manga that is selling very well in japan and they sell lots of Action figures and other stuff from the anime/manga's that they produce!.
Even anime's that are not dubbed in English are selling there games and action figures well here in America!.

So much for cartoon network killing anime in America!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

No, Cartoon Network will not be the death of anime!. It jsut saturates the market!. I still download all kinds of anime nobody has ever heard of, and I know some message boards I can talk about those anime on, but otherwise there is still a strong current of underground anime lovers who keep the American market alive, and there are other markets for Japanese anime all over the worldWww@Enter-QA@Com

i do not agree that Cartoon Network is a sign of death of the anime world in America!. Besides, I have friends in other places that they could still watch anime shows not limited to the Cartoon Network!. But still, some anime are impressive though not presented on Cartoon Network!. I wish Cartoon Network will present new shows!. They usually repeat the shows again and again!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree in part, i don't think it'll be the death of anime, I think the popularity of anime will die down to what it was before, kinda like the whole pokemon trading card game!. Believe it or not there was a time when anime wasn't that popular!. that's when you saw the best of itWww@Enter-QA@Com

No,i dont agree and I don't think soWww@Enter-QA@Com

No, I don't think so!. I was introduced to anime THROUGH Cartoon Network!. While Sailor Moon was the first anime I'd ever seen, Cartoon Network introduced me to Dragonball Z, and that's what sparked my curiosity!. From there I grew to enjoy Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star, Ruroni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Zoids, Gundam Series, Naruto, and Bleach!. While those might not be the best anime in the world, I enjoyed them, and I was introduced to them through Cartoon Network!. And from there my love of anime and then manga, grew!. While I do dislike Cartoon Network now, and I wont watch them for there anime, I can't help but have respect for them for introducing anime to a mainstream audience!. Few of us in America probably wouldn't have ever discovered anime if it wasn't for Cartoon Network!. Now while I don't like the fact that they introduce anime based on it's popularity, they have shown good, enjoyable, anime!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Cartoon Network will not be the death of anime in the US thanks to the internet!. (Idiots who believe they know every about anime/Japan from watching CN shows are idiots regardless of CN)!. Unfortunately, it's true some amazing anime/manga don't get the credit they deserve, but it just seems like CN is the one behind it because they choose shows that are really popular (and safe bets)!. But I would like to add that people I know who watch Bleach were fans long before CN added it as a show!. And they would die before watching it as horribly dubbed as CN shows generally are!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Ask yourself this: did you discover anime on the internet completely by yourself before you ever saw any anime on television, or did your interest in anime come from seeing it on television!? People complain about how poorly anime programs are dubbed, but the truth is they are dubbed on a level that is accessible to elementary and middle school students, many of whom do respond to the dubbed versions!. It appears to me that Cartoon Network is doing a great job of recruiting new soldiers for the Anime Army!.

Personally, I could live without any anime, so I wouldn't be upset if Cartoon Network stopped showing any anime entirely, and your argument seems to be that if they continue showing anime they will kill the American market for anime!. I don't really understand your logic, but it appears we both agree on one thing: Cartoon Network must stop showing anime!. Spread the word, brother!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Absolutely not!. It recently struck me that I pretty much have lived with Anime my whole life -- and I'm fifty three!. As the above poster said, all these shows are done for the Japanese market, not the International market!. For most of my life you will get one or two of these shows on the air, while the rest of them will circulate through VCRs/DVDs, or on the net, or even --when I was very young -- pirate super-8s and 16mm films (on the one hand I never watched those much, on the other hand I never said I was an anime fan -- just that I've lived with it!. My niece and here husband are fans!. I'll watch most of them very contentedly but I usually prefer other things, though given a choice between Tezuka's Kimba the White Lion and Disney's The Lion King I'll go with Kimba any day or night)!.

Obviously the internet has changed things!. If you have a "minority" interest it is pretty easy to go out and find it here!. Aside from that Viacom has set aside another bloc for Anime on the SciFi channel, there is plenty of stuff on TV which keeps the idea that there is great stuff coming out of Japan in front of peoples' faces!.

Now if only Hollywood would try doing more great stuff!.
