Out of any of the girls!.!.!.Hinata!. Not too pretty, not ugly!. Not loud or troublesome in any way!. They could have a quiet, peaceful, dignified, and intelligent relationship!. She could motivate him without bothering him and he could be her support without overwhelming her!. It would be mature and I think more realistic than the others!.
Someone who is not his mother in any way!. You know, I never got why people would want him to be with someone like her!. When I am looking for a woman the one thing I am not asking is "does she remind me of mom"!.

obviously, people have very different opinions about that, however the most popular straight pairings found in fanfiction stories about shikamaru are usually with ino or with temari!. many people believe that there is a strong chemistry between shikamaru and temari because of the way he surprised her and earned her respect during the chuunin exams!. there is also the incident where she saved him during his battle with one of the sound five, showing that she is strong enough to be his equal etc!.
arguments made by ino fans are that she and shikamaru have grown up together and are a part of the ino-chouji-shika team!. ino is often frustrated by shika and so on, but obviously cares for him!. they learn to work better and get along in the shippuuden part of the series, and so she is considered the childhood friend he is destined to be with etc!.
it's really your pick though since nothing's ever really proven that either of them are more than comrades or friends to shika!. he may be simply too lazy to look for love at the moment ^_^Www@Enter-QA@Com
