More often than not, the Green Ranger (or, for a time, the Red Ranger) stayed outside the cockpit and controlled it remotely using the dagger!. On the rare occasions when Tommy does enter the cockpit however, he is shown to have a greater control on the Dragonzord!.
When Tommy (the Green Ranger) first loses his powers via the Green Candle, he bestowes them onto Jason (the Red Ranger) before Rita got them back, including the Dragon Dagger and, thus, use of the Dragonzord!.
Jason produces the Dragon Dagger even while piloting Megazord and uses it to remotely control the Dragonzord!. Jason relinquishes the dagger and powers when Tommy subsequently regained his Green Ranger abilities!.
After the Rangers' Dinozords are used to create the Thunderzords, Tommy is able to continue using the Dragonzord in battle, though due to the Thunder Megazord being from Dairanger, it never appeares in the same scene as the Dragonzord!. Soon after, however, Tommy loses the Green Ranger powers for good, and the Dragonzord returns to an indefinite sleep in the sea!.
Dragonzord returns a final time when the clone Green Ranger appears and uses it against Tommy (who is now the White Ranger) and the Tigerzord!. Surprisingly enough, the Dragonzord is able to defeat the Tigerzord, which is considered to be more powerful!. After the other Rangers arrive, they summon the Thunder Megazord and nearly destroy the Dragonzord, but Tommy manages to break the evil spell on his clone, who then has the Dragonzord stop its attack!. Following this battle, the Dragonzord returns to the harbor!.
