I can't tell you everything because I have never volunteered, but I can tell you something!. Last year, i was chatting with a girl who had just been released from her volunteer duties (we were waiting together in a long line for some kind of panel)!. She said one of her duties was to direct people to the back of the line for whatever panel she was working!. In another line, she had to stand AT the end of a line, holding a sign!. I have seen volunteers direct people in and out of panels, stick around while the people wait in line (keep the line orderly, answer questions, etc)!. I have seen volunteers waiting inside the rooms to help seat people, maybe do an errand for someone working the panel!. I know I have seen volunteers working slide projectors inside the meeting rooms during the seminars!. Volunteers can be asked to do all sorts of things!.

The girl I originally mentioned above was off free for the day after working just 2 panel meetings!. It may have taken her 3 hours to fulfill her obligation, but after it was over she could do anything she wanted, go wherever she wanted (not "behind the scenes", but anywhere anyone else attending the convention would do or go to)!.

I think my point is that you could be asked to keep a line neat and orderly, guide people to the back of the line, work a projector, make sure people get seated, whatever is needed!. I do not know if criteria have changed for this years' Con, but I dhont' think they would that much!.

"Volunteering for Comic-Con is a great way to see the show for free by working a simple three-hour per day shift; the day you work is the day you get in for free!. Those who work all four days get the limited edition Comic-Con Volunteer T-shirt (the 2007 edition featured Superman Doomsday!)!. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age!. " --------that came from their website!. Here is a link to the page:

Looks like it *is* a 3-hour shift and that's it, you're done! I am going and cannot wait! I hope you have fun!!Www@Enter-QA@Com
