In the last episode Sailor Moon appears naked (I can confirm this since I have the last season in Japanese!.!.!. it wasn't detailed nudity, but she does lose her clothes and sprouts angel wings!.!.!. the nudity is supposed to represent 'purity' and isn't sexual in nature)
Since she stays naked for most of the episode it there was no way for American TV to edit it without removing the whole episode!.!.!. and how would they be able to put out an entire season without airing the final episode!?

In response to the first post, he must have never watched it!. There is no genital-exposing nudity, unless he watched hentai!. Sailormoon was NOT originally hentai!.
Okay, that aside, I have watched SailorStars!. They didn't want to dub it because the English dub already had a lot of things dumbed down from the original version!. Yes, I have watched both the subbed and dubbed version of the anime and have seen the difference firsthand!. For one thing, how would they handle ChibiChibi's character!? They called Chibiusa "Rini" because we don't want our kids to learn any Japanese!. Chibi means little or small (Chibiusa being short for Chibi Usagi or little bunny, since she is her mother's daughter!) and they'd have to come up with a name for her!. After calling Sailor Chibimoon "Sailor Mini Moon" umm!.!.!. would ChibiChibi transform and become "Sailor Mini Mini"!? That would be even more confusing!.
There's also the issue of Uranus and Neptune / Haruka and Michiru!. No, they're not cousins; they are actually lovers!. I can understand the dub not wanting to tackle this issue as I personally don't agree with their lifestyle, but that was how it was supposed to be in the original!. I don't know how they would've handled their emotional death scene and wanting to touch one last time, either!.
There's a new challenge presented by the Sailor Starlights!. They are men, but they transform into women!. We wouldn't want to confuse our kids with this, since they can't know the truth about Haruka and Michiru, anyway! We want our translations to be politically correct, yet we don't want to mentally scar our children and mess up their sexual identities!. They'd have a tough time with this, especially since all three of the Starlights do appear shirtless in one episode (183), although Seiya is shirtless in another episode as well!.
Finally, the issue of nudity was already mentioned and explained quite well!. Sailormoon does fight her last battle in the nude and it is supposed to be more symbolic of purity and having nothing left to hide!. There is nothing sexual about it as there is no detail to her breasts or crotch; only the outlines, like during the transformation sequences!. This nudity lasts maybe for 1/4 of the episode at most, from what I remember!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Actually, Pretty Sammy copied Sailor moon, since it first began AIRING in 1992, while Pretty Sammy wasn't around until 1993, when she appeared in a Drama CD!.!.
And pretty much, DIC and Cloverway didn't liscence the final season because they, well, couldn't brutally censor it!.

I believe it has to do with the newly introduced Sailor Starlights, Maker, Healer, and Fighter, since in the anime, they're men that turn into women!. Maybe they thought that was a little too much for children to handle!?Www@Enter-QA@Com
DIC never bothered to licensed the last season!. Not sure why!. It was pretty popular, right!? But the naked stuff people are saying isn't true!.
