Well Batman has died-- A lot!. Just like most other superheroes, they die but the writers and fans want them back!. Unfortunately!.!.!.If you were to take up superheroism tomorrow, you die and you ain't coming back!.
It'd be possible, but chances of getting any cool enemies is pretty much unlikely, unless you want to fight politicians!. Plus, just going after vigilantes will most likely put you in not only your local police department's views, but their gunfire, too!. Police won't take too kindly to a man in a cape wielding enough ammo to take them out!.

Because you can still get shot, heck even by your own friends & allies!. Like our own superhero in Afganistan, who left the Arizona Cardinals and the pampered life of a popular sports hero -- for the battlefield and service to the USA/our country!.
In real life, that's not enough!. You can help, and serve - but you're not impervious as most superheroes in the comics are, to risk of injury!. And worse!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
