Manga and Anime are close to being the same but are also different!. :P
MANGA - basically a Japanese comic book, but usually more professional!. For example, Superman is a comic, where as Naruto is a manga(anime as well)!. Being professional is not what makes it a manga, though!. A series of manga are called, well, manga!. But a manga that has only one volume (a complete and full story in one volume) is called a Tankōbon!. A common style of drawing is Moe, especially in girls!.
ANIME - basically short for "animation"!. Sometimes confused with cartoons!. I dont exactly know the fine line between anime and cartoons, but usually what makes anime an anime is that it is originally japanese!. For example, Fullmetal Alchemist was originally japanese, but then dubbed in english because of its popularity!. A cartoon like Family Guy is just plain old english!. Usually anime is made from a popular manga (ex!. Naruto, FMA, Bleach etc!.) A common appearance for girls in anime is Moe!.
In both Manga and Anime, there are many categories of age groups and styles:

SHOJO-AI - 'girl love' focuses on love and romance between girls
YURI - almost the same as shojo-ai, but tends to focus more on older characters and is more 'explicit'!.
SHONEN-AI - 'boy love' focuses on love and romance between boys

Anime is a very stylized animation that originated in Japan and is becoming increasingly popular in the US (think Dragonball Z, Avatar, Pokemon, Cowboy Bebop, etc!.)!.
Manga is the print form of this stylized art, like comic books!. Often, popular manga is turned into anime, though there are instances where an anime is then turned into manga, especially when there is a strong fan demand for more of the story!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
