Optimus Prime has let me down! I need genuine answers please?!

Question: Optimus Prime has let me down! I need genuine answers please!?
I've loved Optimus Prime from Transformers for a very long time!. I look up to him as a role model & a father-figure!. I admire everything about him & always try to follow in his teachings of life, compassion & knowing right from wrong!.

However, in the Transformers 2007 movie, there is a scene that I personally find VERY disturbing!. In the scene where Bumblebee, Sam & Mikaela are being brutally-captured by Sector 7 at Hoover Dam, Optimus actually turns his back on Bumblebee, explaining that there's no way to free Bumblebee without harming the humans & to let them leave!. I found it DEEPLY disturbing that Optimus was actually willing to sacrifice Bumblebee, one of his own people, just to spare a few humans!. I understand his teachings that freedom is the right of all sentient beings, that it's wrong to kill, etc, but there are up to 6 billions humans in the world & only a few Autobots!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

So what do you have to say about the sacrifice Optimus Prime made in The Transformers Movie in 1986!? Optimus Prime gave his own life in defense of the Autobots and humans (Sam and Spike Witwicky)!. His spark faded when he gave up the Matrix!. Not that the matrix was keeping him alive, but with his last energon sparks he gave the autobots a way to light their darkest hour, saving both autobots and humans!.

Sacrifice, that's the role of a hero!. Bumblebee as a hero understood that!. Look at it this way, sometimes you gotta pick your battles!. That was one battle where they were better off running to live to fight another day!. If they had stayed Optimus risked more autobots being captured and he would be outnumbered by the Decepticons!. They did go back to free Bumblebee when they stood a better chance of success!.

Edit: Yes they could have done a rescue attempt to save Bumblebee!. In doing so how much damage do you think they would have caused!? How much damage would Bumbleebee have taken!? Sam!? Mikaela!? The other autobots!? Is that something an autobot would do!? Sounds like Decepticon behavior to me!. As the Autobot leader, Optimus had to pick and choose when to fight!. If they fought there what would that prove!? Humans would have seen them as an attacking force!. Instead Optimus choose to fight when the Decepticons showed themselves!. This allowed the humans to see them as two different sides!. One defending the humans and the other which did not care!. This also gave them sway with the humans to release Bumblebee instead of having to fight to free him!. The autobots made allies with the humans instead of enemies!.

Edit: Sam also has the key to the location of the allspark!. The allspark allows the creation of new autobots as well as the repair of old autobots!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

if optmus killed any people while saving bumblebee he could have started a war against all people!. that is a war the autobots would definitely lose on our turf!. optimus is responsible for the survival of his team the sacrifice of one is better then the sacrifice of his entire teamWww@Enter-QA@Com

i must say, i'm not trying to be rude, but i'd pick a role model that is actually real because optimus prime is just a character in a movie!. he did it because that is how the story is written!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Do NOT go by that horrible live action movie version!.

The 80's Transformers the Movie was WAY better, had WAY more robots, and the characters were kept with their original look from the cartoons and NOT these spindly, skeletal designs!.

And, it didn't have that idiot Shia LeBeouf running around whining all the time ruining the whole movie going experience for me!. That kid is WAY overrated!.

Mike Bay is a truly atrocious director!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Autobots are like doctors - their motto is "Do no harm!"
This is a bad example but the only one I could think of!.
Imagine the people that are completely against animal testing and against cutting down the forest!. They are willing to sacrifice their lives to save a few animals and trees!.
We have more trees and animals then people on this planet!.
Rescuing bumblebee is not as easy as you think!. Sure, he's a superhero with superpowers but responsibility is about restraint!. They would have had to shoot up the neighborhood to rescue bumblebee!. You saw how they took bumblebee down!. It would of been the same thing and if they fought back - it's alot of dead humans!.
They (bumblebee, sam, mikaela) forgave him because forgiveness is virtuous!.
People and autobots can't make the right decision all the time!. They make mistakes and learn from it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
