Answers:
It's something that allows you to download with assistance from other computers!.!.!. as opposed to a direct download, which is usually better, and doesn't require help from other people who have whatever you want to download!. I try to avoid torrents myself!.

Hope that makes sense!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

A torrent is a file that can be broken up into pieces!. You can make many different types of files into a torrent, like pictures or movies or music!. The common name is BitTorrent, because data broken up by a computer is called a 'bit'

BitTorrent programs take a torrent, break it up into many pieces, and send it over the internet!. Another BitTorrent program takes the pieces and puts them back together to make a movie or a song or whatever you turned into a torrent!. So in a sense, a torrent is like a jigsaw puzzle!. You can have any kind of picture you want on the puzzle, and the puzzle can be broken up into pieces!. A BitTorrent program is like a guy who knows how to put all the pieces back together to form a picture!.

The good thing about torrents is that they are part of a 'peer-to-peer' network!. This means that when you have a BitTorrent program running, you can offer to keep a torrent up for people to download!. So if I have a file you want, you can download it from me!. Then you and I both have the file, and someone else can download the file from both of us!. Then 3 people have the file, and then 4 and so on and so on!. With a peer-to-peer network, if I have 5 people downloading my data, you can get pieces of data from me, as well as those 5 people, as well as anyone else who has the file you want!. That way, downloading is much faster because the more people who have the file, the more the computer can find the person who is fastest at giving out data!. In simple terms, a BitTorrent program puts all the pieces together, and knows when its busy putting those peices together so it will tell your computer to go to somebody who is not putting pieces together and will therefore be faster!. And the internet is so big, there could me hundreds of thousands of people out there with the file you want, and you can take a little bit from all of them and dowload fairly quickly

The bad thing about torrents is that you can make pretty much anything into a torrent!. So you can put in a DVD of the latest movie, turn it into a torrent, and put it up on the internet!. Then nobody buys the DVD and everybody downloads the movie!. This is illegal because the DVD is copyrighted and it says right when you start is not to be distributed or copied!. You can also make programs into a torrent, so instead of buying the program like you should, you download it on the internet, which is illegal!. You hear about torrents a lot on Comics and Animation because it is popular to take a cartoon and turn it into a torrent and put it on the internet!. This is illegal if the cartoon is licenced to be shown on TV!. People can also record and torrent TV shows, movies, programs, book reports, music off of CDs and other kinds of things that you would otherwise buy!. SO Torrents themselves aren't illegal, but you can use a torrent program to download illegal stuff!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

torrent: A file that is constantly moving across a large network!. In order to download the file, the downloading file segments must at the same time be uploaded to other users requesting the file!. Torrents are tagged with a unique ID so that any particular torrent can be located from anywhere on the network with the correct software!. Most torrent's contents are illegal in the US!. the current fine for having a copyrighted movie (most torrents) is up to $250,000 and/or up to 5 years in jail!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing (P2P) communications protocol!. BitTorrent is a method of distributing large amounts of data widely without the original distributor incurring the entire costs of hardware, hosting, and bandwidth resources!. Instead, when data is distributed using the BitTorrent protocol, each recipient supplies pieces of the data to newer recipients, reducing the cost and burden on any given individual source, providing redundancy against system problems, and reducing dependence on the original distributor!.

i think it's this

It is a way to steal from artists, writers, and producers!.!.!.and other stakeholders in the anime industry!.

I mean, if i walked up and took your car, would you call me a thief, or merely someone engaging in a Peer to Peer transaction via a real-time torrent!?

Bring on them thumbs down!.!.!.it is an admission that you either are a thief, or encourage stealing! In fact, I hope to get about 1,000 thumbs down on this!.!.!.it will just prove my point!.

PURITAN: Huzzah! Too bad that they don't go after the downloaders too, even though they can track them!. It is one thing to download a fansub of an unavailable, unlicensed (US) anime, another thing to just go out and steal!. If the item is unavailable, or out of print, I can rationalize it; otherwise, not!. Good post!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
