Why (in comics) do they make some words bold?!

Question: Why (in comics) do they make some words bold!?
I've noticed that in comics in the newspaper, comic books, MAD magazine, etc!.!.!. They randomly BOLD some words in the speech balloons, but they aren't words that are bold for emphasis!. For example, text:

"I BORROWED MONEY from them!"

In the context that was said, bolding text for emphasis would have instead made it:

"*I* borrowed money from *THEM*"

Does anyone know what I mean!? I've been wondering since childhood if there is any rhyme or reason to which words they bold!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Um, I don't really know, but I think I'll take a shot at it!.

When they say,
"I BORROWED MONEY from them!"
I think it's bolded because borrowing the money seems to be the most important part of the sentance!. Like, if you were skimming the page, that's what you would for sure see!. I you saw the word THEM in bold,

1!. That doesn't sound as interesting as BORROWED MONEY

and
2!. It probably wouldn't catch your attention!.

---------------------
"I GAVE his UNLISTED PHONE number to ALL the TELEMARKETERS!."

Maybe it was really important that whoever it is GAVE his UNLISTED PHONE number!. Maybe he/she wasn't supposed to do that, especially to ALL the TELEMARKETERS!.

See!? *laugh* That, or maybe it's just to be random!. And annoying!. :]Www@Enter-QA@Com
