We seem to have very similar tastes :)

I think you'd really enjoy Saiunkoku Monogatari!. It has a similar setting to Fushigi Yuugi, and though it focuses somewhat less on romance, it still has a pretty strong reverse harem feeling!. It chronicles the personal and professional struggles of the first female government official in an ancient China-esque country!.

Princess Tutu would also be a good choice!. It's chock full of angst and complicated relationships!. I will say that it starts off pretty slow and even seems like a flitty, fun series for awhile, but once it gets going it full of drama and!.!.!.really not even about ballet!. It's worth sticking with until it hits full force!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
