Most violent or disturbing anime/manga?!

If you read it, you won't be able to sleep well for days!. Me!? I'm a brave guy but the idea is soooo disturbing it feels like it's true!. It's addictive to read since you want to know what's happen next!.

Wow~ I have one I think definitely comes over the top of those, and I'm surprised no one mentioned it!. Monster is one of the most violent and disturbing Anime I've seen~ mainly because it is something that could actually have happened in real life~

It stands alone when it comes to mystery/psychological/horror Anime series~ easily the best Mystery Anime out there!.

I don't find many Anime series disturbing~ but I agree with Higurashi no Naku Koro ni!. When it comes to Anime giving me that creepy feeling (chills and all), nothing does that better than Higurashi!. The atmosphere and music are just so well put together!.

The second season of Higurashi~ not so much~

Then of course, there's Elfen Lied, which I think is the most gory Anime out there~

While Helling Ultimate and Gantz sure are violent, I don't find them disturbing!. Personally, I didn't like Gantz much (it just seemed like an excuse to have gore to me)~ Hellsing Ultimate is awesome!. I have yet to see Berserk!~ something to do with the ending of the Anime that kept me from seeing it~Www@Enter-QA@Com

Elfen Lied and Monster should give even Gantz a run for its money (all three make my list of most disturbing!)

Oh as for manga- ever read Battle Royale!? Or even worse Arm of Kannon!? (Arm of Kannon was originally called Birth in Japan)- they probably can't be made into anime for how sickening they are (but great stories- do read if you're legal)Www@Enter-QA@Com

for manga i'd say Battle Royale!. not only is it full of graphic violence but just the whole kids have to kill other kids to inspire dicipline in other kids and patriotism in adults is pretty disturbing!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You're asking for the MOST violent / disturbing series!? Hmm, sure Berserk, Hellsing, & Gantz are great action & horror titles (they're more action than horror to me anyways) but they're not "disturbing" all the time!.

I'm guessing since you've been exposed Gantz that you're of the appropriate age for such media!. /disclaimer
[Edit] *Note: Gantz manga rips the Anime apart! The relations & desperation that Kurono faces later as he grows attached to his companions is unrivaled!.

And I'm disregarding the infamous "guro" genre of series (general theme is torture & gore with the little story that is present meant to further increase the torture & gore)!. Myself, I will never find myself reading guro titles, just word of mouth from more experience readers on IRC have described it enough for me to stay away!.
