Ok, so I'm looking into jobs in the comic book industry and...?!

Question: Ok, so I'm looking into jobs in the comic book industry and!.!.!.!?
I know that with Marvel and DC comics they get their new comic book ideas at conventions, but does this apply to all comic book corporations like Valiant or Dark Horse or whatever!? Does anybody know about minor comic book corporations that find their ideas in other ways!? Thank you for your time!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Neither Marvel nor DC "get their new comic book ideas at conventions," although they sometimes disclose some of their new series or future plans at the larger conventions (usually the one in San Diego)!. Sometimes editors will look at art samples at conventions, but I doubt writers are ever hired at cons!.

Go to your local library and find the latest volume of "The Writer's Yearbook," which will contain the names and addresses of comic book publishing companies (and a great number of other markets)!. You can assume that any company that doesn't say they "do not read unsolicited manuscripts," will look at unsolicited material!. It is best to send a letter of inquiry to the editor(s) listed, and ask if they would be interesting in whatever it is you think you can produce!. If you are an artist, you can offer to let them see a photographic portfolio, or if you are a writer can offer to send them a sample script!. Don't expect a positive response unless you have had artwork or prose published!. There are thousands of morons who think they can write and/or draw comics without ever having an art lesson or a single advanced English class, and editors usually politely reject any offers from someone who clearly doesn't understand publishing and who cannot write a clear and concise letter of inquiry!. Chances are the only nibbles you will get will be from the smallest of publishers, who will consider working with beginners (provided said beginners seem like they hold some promise of being able to produce professional work)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I remember one day in a field trip, my class took me to go to a Marvel comic book company in Manhattan, NY!. It was interesting on how the artists were well concentrated onto their work, including it has a lot of floors to visit plus they have collectable action figures!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Go to comic conventions, comic book shops where artists and other people in the industry go to, or try looking on-line!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
