It's a very good question with MANY answers and NO One Correct answer!. Its a little more than just "what you like"!. In general you have
Superman and Batman,: So many things have changed with comics since the beginning but many things will always be constant and centered around these two!. The Laws of LIFE and DEATH will always change in comics but Clark Kent will always be Superman and Bruce Wayne will always be Batman!.
Spiderman and the X-Men,: The 80s generation!. Spiderman is the "common man's" Hero!. He has girlfriend and money problems JUST LIKE WE DO!. THAT is what made him so uniquely popular!.
I personally think they Over-did it with the X-men but it was still a great idea at the time!. IT was Stan Lee's way of Diversifying Superheroes!.
The rest of the MU: Tho DC has stepped up to the plate in the last 2 decades, Marvel was first to give their heroes REAL problems!. The classic bickering between Johnny and Ben is where it began!. Tony Stark has all the money a man could want!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.and alcoholism to go along with it!.
The rest of the DCU: Outside of Superman and Batman, you have Wonder Woman then the rest!. Flash and Green Lantern are popular but not as well known as many Marvels!.
I've tried other companies and dont like any of them!. Dark Horse is ok but I just stick to DC and Marvel!. Some of my favorites are Superman, Spiderman, Batman, THOR (my fav MU character), Green Lantern, SHAZAM, Fantactic 4!.
Image is my least favorite!. Its full of DC and Marvel rip-offs and Im glad their popularity is just a ''flash in the pan'' from the 90s that many dont even bother with anymore!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Marvel has MORE good characters, but DC has the Best characters but only a few!.
Marvel has a bigger universe, has more people, yet their backgrounds aren't very unique!. Unlike Batman and Superman in DC, they are truly ahead of their time!.
So if you like reading comics, pick Marvel!.

Marvel comics are much better than DC for a few reasons!. The first is that is actually takes place in the real world, aside from few fictious places, while DC takes place in a made up world!.
Second Marvel actually gives its characters depth!. The have problems and character flaws, DC characters just beat up bad guys!.
Lastly any comic book publisher that needs to release weekly books is a scam artist and is just trying to get your money!. I mean marvel isnt much better with all thier tie-ins, but DC is trying to rape its fans!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I love both, but have to pick Marvel!. Most of DC's major characters get the power from being alien, rich,and or brilliant, while Marvel is always coming up with new ways to give people power: wealth and brilliance, alein, mutation, various forms of radiation, various mythologies, and genetic enhancement, and so on!. The last time I posted there deemed to be some confusion, so I'll further say that I don't dislike aliens or people that get power from being smart!. In fact, two of my all time favorite charaters are Lobo (alien) and Steel (a human genius), who both also happen to be DC!. I just find that Marvel has more variety to offer its readers, and therfore, I must pick MarvelWww@Enter-QA@Com

Easier to follow and not too many characters or versions of one character!. DC has way too many versions of Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, etc! also too many alternate universe characters and stories/backgrounds dont make sense! Marvel without a doubt!. DC has terrible characters I think!. Batman was one of the greatest heros ever and Green Latern is ok but all their other characters are horrible!. I mean Superman is such a generic over powered hero, how do you put the Flash, whos power is being fast, on a team with Superman who is just as fast with 20 other powers!? Wanna know how bad DC heros get, one word Aquaman!.

I collected a lot of comics a couple of years ago and I found that Marvel has more cool comics then DC!.
The batman comics (and spin-offs) were cool but Marvel had much more cool guys and girls!. Wolverine, X-men, ghost rider, punisher, deadpool,!.!.!.!. the list goes on and on!.
Other cool comics were wichblade and darkness,!.!.!. but I forgot from wich publisher those came!. I think Image!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Depends on which kinds of character you like better!.
