Answers:
You have two ways to get into it!.

The best and first way is to pre-order your pass for the convention on their website!. Just type the name of the convention in a web search and you should find it!.

If you don't want to do that, you can show up on the day(s) that you want to go and purchase a pass!. These generally run around 25-35$ a certain day to 40-50$ for the whole convention!.

There usually will be signs and attendance to help you get the passes and where to go!.

As for what goes on, if you check their website you can see all the programming that the specific convention has, but in general:

Cosplay all around, as well as cosplay contests
Musical performances - depending upon how large the venue is, there may be Japanese bands/musicians performing
Dealers Room - local and sometimes not local stores set up shops for you to purchase anime goods
AMV contest - locals create and show off their anime music videos
Video Games- there is often a section to play the latest video games and anime related video games along with table top games and sometimes mini tournaments
Panels/Discussions - Usually anime companies, voice actors, and people related to the anime industry have discussion panels, signings, and the such

and alot more!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Without knowing which anime convention you're talking about I can only give you general information about the anime conventions I've been to and the one I help put on for our local area!.

1!.) Yes, if it's a convention, you usually have to pay to get in!. Prices vary!. However, if it's an expo like JFAX is (located in Michigan) it is put on free of charge to attendees!. I suggest you visit the con's website, if they have one, for further information!.

2!.) A general programming guide for a convention mostly likely includes the following:
- A dealer's area, where you can purchase all things anime related from vendors!.
- An artist's alley, where you can purchase all things fanart from the artists themselves!.
- Anime screenings, where you can plunk for hours and watch different anime!.
- Panels, where you sit in a classroom type setting for lectures on anything ranging from a specific anime, to how to put together your first cosplay, to those creepy ball jointed dolls!. Sometimes people from the industry, voice actors, manga artists, producers, etc (if the con is of a decent size) will visit and meet with their adoring fans for Q and A!.
- Music, some cons will invite live bands to play popular anime, game, and j-pop music for your listening pleasure!.
- Gaming rooms, where you can plop your couch potato self and play video games, sometimes the con will even have gaming competitions you can enter (sometimes these have a small entry fee)!.
- Cosplay/masquerade!. The cosplayers themselves are worth dropping by to see!. Some of the costumes are amazing in detail, others are just hilariously awful!. Most cons will have a masquerade, which is sort of like a fashion show cosplayers can enter to show off their costumes in front of an audience!. Some cons will have contests you can enter to win prizes for your costume!.
- Photo shoots, where cosplayers of specific anime/games gather to have their picture taken with others who have dressed as characters from their series!.
- Other programming!? Each con also has the events that are unique to their con!.

Umm, I think that's the vast majority of the basic info!. The most informitive advice I can give you is go to the con!. If it's a small one, you'll probably have a good time for the day!. If it's a large one, you'll probably have an amazing time for the course of the three days they typically run!. The more you go to, the more you'll enjoy them and the more involved you'll want to be in the next one!.

Hope I've helped you out some : ) Have a good time if you do wind up going!Www@Enter-QA@Com

This depends on what sort of convention you're going to!. Usually you can pay for a ticket at booths at the entrance (well some of them need tickets)!. Different sorts of stuff happen at conventions: Cosplaying contests, Drawing contests, Band Showdowns (sometimes), Anime or Manga trivia contests, and even Eating contests!. Just go to where that convention is and check it out, and have fun! :]Www@Enter-QA@Com

Sometimes they have ticket sales on-line or ticket booths at the convo!. Although if you want to go, I would suggest getting their early!. My boyfriend and I went to the convo in Boston and stood in line for nearly two hours just to get tickets!. Good luck!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
