Not all anime is like that!. Most of Katsuhiro Otomo's work features more realistic humans; there are other works that feature more realistic humans as well; it's just that the most popular (ergo: easy to sell) anime is drawn in the way you mention!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Personally, I think anime characters would look quite dull if they were presented in a realistic way!. I think it presents the emotions of the character in a more universally understandable way!. also, bcoz it is a computer animation, emotions etc that would otherswise require the skills of an experienced actor/actress can be presented!.!.!. Why else do you think the West is so crazy about animations in a foreign language!!?!!?!

Haha!. I don't think there is a law against drawing anime in a realistic way!. I just think that that style of drawing is what distinguishes anime from other genres of animations!. I think the reason why anime is drawn the way it is, is because it over exaggerates character emotions!. This way it is obvious what kind of emotion the author is trying to get across in his character!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

we have to look at the anime
and think:
why do they have huge eyeballs!?
my conclusion would be:
so that their expression would be shown more clearly and it makes the anime characters cuter and chibish :D
but some anime doesnt have any large eyeballs
for eg!.some handsome guys in anime
they only have medium human like eyeballs that make them look <3<3<3

Comedy anime's portray those types of characters but when you get into the serious anime's(i!.e!. Berserk), you'll get a more realistic feel from it!.

Not all of them are like that~ Look at an anime like Mushishi and Monster~ they have very realistic looking characters
