Who was the first mutant in the Marvel Universe?!

Question: Who was the first mutant in the Marvel Universe!?
I had thought Apocalypse was considered the first but after reading his Wikipedia page I found that he was the 2nd!. The page doesn't name the first!. I assume this is from a recent storyline!. also, I read somewhere where someone had asked who the most powerful mutant was and someone listed Juggernaut as one of them!. Juggernaut is not a mutant!. He got his powers through magic!. That's neither here nor there, so who was before Apocalypse!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
The first mutants
The first recorded mutant on earth is Selene Gallio (active as early as the Hyborian Age); as her particular mutant powers grant her immortality, however, she may not necessarily be the first mutant!. It is also possible that she has lied about her age, as she has about so much else!. She was considered a de facto member of the Externals, a defunct group of ancient immortal mutants!. Apocalypse, born in the 30th century BCE, is often referred to as the first mutant!. Gateway, is another noteworthy ancient mutant!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think there is some confusion here due to the use of the term "first!." Perhaps if it was asked who was the oldest mutant in the Marvel Universe, you might get a useful answer, or you might not!. By asking who was the first mutant in the Marvel Universe, you are getting answers that indicate Prince Namor was the first mutant!. Well, since he was one of the first few characters in the Marvel Universe and he does show signs of being a mutant (since he has powers that his being a hybrid can't account for), he would therefore be Marvel's first mutant!. However, thanks to retroactive continuity, Apocalypse is an older mutant that Namor, since he was born a couple of millennium before Namor!.

As for a mutant older than Apocalypse, there is a John Byrne 'Avengers West Coast' story that featured a variation on the "first mutant" idea, in that some pre-Devonian primordial sludge, just advanced enough to be considered "living" was mutated into an energy creature called "the Everlasting," or "the Immortal" or some such similar name!. Certainly a mutant of a species that predated humans would have to be considered an older mutant than any human mutant!.

If you can't accept pre-humans as legitimate mutants, then you may as well regard Apocalypse as the oldest mutant!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Interesting question!.

The answer Namor, the Sub-Mariner has come up and I remember hearing that some time ago as well!.

From what we know about Wolverine, Logan might be considered the first!. Logan has been around longer that Steve Rogers or damn near as long!. The question remains was he a mutant at the time he fought along side Cap in the first World War!.

Apocalypse is a reasonable choice, but I am going to go on a limb and challenge even the Marvel Historians to say that when we look at the history of the Inhumans, who seem like they are closer to mutant-like ways, it might make sense to see where Black Bolt's ancestry actually began!.

To be on the safe side Namor is the correct answer, but there are always possibilities!.

Hey, we need to go to the man for that one!.!.!.!.STAN LEE!Www@Enter-QA@Com
