I keep seeing this one axolotl picture!. I think it was in both my 7th and 12th grade science books!. And when I saw it, I thought, "Whooper!" And somehow, all was well in the world (even though it's not)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

That's because the person that designed the Wooper Pokémon based the design on the real-life axolotl!.
In Japan, they call axolotls "Woopers"!. I guess Japanese people find nahuatl words somewhat hard to pronounce!. ^^'
Curiously, Woopers are very popular pets in Japan!. It's curious, axolotls are native animals of Mexico City where I live in and I've never seen them sold anywhere in local petshops!. No wonder the poor animal is endangered!.
Even more curious that they say that axolotls actually live in the Chapultepec Lake given the lake is artificial and the bottom is made out of concrete!. It's not exactly a nature sanctuary with all the people riding boats and stuff!.
