Since Marvel created an alternate universe in early 2002 called the Ultimate universe!. In that universe the characters all basically have similar backstories, powers and personalities but the Ultimate creators were able to take liberties with them without regard to the regular Marvel universe characters!. One of the things that they did was to make Nick Fury black with a definite Benjamin Cisco/Samuel L!. Jackson feel to him!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Go back and read the Ultimates!.!.!. The entire "Ultimate Universe" line of titles take place in an alternate universe- more adult themed and gritty storylines, with changes to all the mainstream Marvel Characters!. For example, Tony Stark's identity as Iron Man is publicly known, the WWII Super-soldier project worked much better so that Captain America is one of the world's most powerful heroes, and the Hulk resulted from attempts to duplicate that research!.
