Question: What dose sannin mean (in naruto )!?

Actually, Sannin means "three people", with "san" means three, and "nin" means people!. It's the somewhat honorable name that Salamander Hanzou of the Rain (he was the former leader of Rain before he was killed by Pain) gave to Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orochimaru because they were the ones left during the fight with Hanzou!.
Although it was said to be an honorable name, it actually meant otherwise - Hanzou was actually giving them an insult since he let the three live!. Besides, why would a leader of an opposing country let some!.!.!. err, "weak" ninjas live!? Hanzou clearly stated if they still want to live, they would have to declare themselves as "Sannin"!.!.!.!. who fought up against Hanzou, but unknowingly, Hanzou was the one letting them live up until now!. >_>

There called the lendary sannin casue they have the most of ninjusut tijustu and gentusis avaible and they can summon large animals to their side and rhey can deal a gret amout of engery to an oppent!.

if im not mistaken it IS a rank!. a ninja rank!. one right below the hokage!. [or w/e kage is in THAT particular village!.] hye are usually just as powerful as a kage, but choose not to take on that responsibility because they don't want to, and they want to fulfill other dreams!.
