I don't know about angsty but you can try yami no matsuei or descendants of the dark/the darker descendants!.

The main character of the story, genjo Sanzo the monk, drinks, smokes, gambles and would just shoot anyone who pissed him off!. It also got some dark themes as three of the four characters have some sort of "bloody past'!. Lots of fighting and annihilation!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

most of my favorite anime were actually delivered in certain dark or angsty atmosphere
