Who's smarter Shikamaru or L???!
Question: Who's smarter Shikamaru or L!?!?!?
I really want to know! They're both some of my favorite characters so I don't want either one to loose!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Intelligence isn't just about who can solve a math puzzle the best, it's complex!. A person like the guy Dustim Hoffman played in the movie Rainman can have a superhuman ability to remember card patterns and win playing Black Jack anytime without technically cheating and yet in most other things the guy is helpless and would probably forget to eat if people didn't remind him!.
Most people didn't even think Shikamaru was smart to begin with!. Obviously Konoha village's interest is to be a military state and not of science and technology!. The ninja school only taught what was important to become a ninja and in the realm of physics and math they probably only taught what would be easily applicable in battle combat, they didn't bother performing IQ tests to give special training to students with special needs!. They do assemble Genin teams based on the personalities and technique abilities of the students to level them out!.
Shikamaru clearly shows that his apathy is due to the fact that he is bored and that the education given to regular students is just too damn simple for his smarts!. Had they realized his intelligence sooner in the series, they would have probably tried to get the most of out it!.
It wasn't until Shikamaru's chunin status forced him to become personally responsible for the lives of his friends that he started to use his brain more and found creating combat tactics and thus lost his boredom!.
This is where L comes in!. They knew he was gifted as a kid and he was raised in this private school for super smart kids!. He was given a top-notch education to stimulate his talents from the start!.
We don't know what Shikamaru could have achieved if he had been given a better education fit for his special needs like L did!. In this sense maybe Shikamaru is smarter than L, but again intelligence is complex!.
L solves crimes like they were puzzles!. He even has pretty good verb skills because he can change the way he speaks with a huge naturality (like the scene where Matusda is kept captive at the Yotsuba building and L calls him pretending to be a musician buddy while getting info on Matsuda's status)!. I don't see Shikamaru fooling his enemies by talking to them, he rather hides in the bushes!. L probably would have been able to fool Gaara into not killing him by just talking to him, from the early episodes, Shikamaru wouldn't!.
I'd say they are both pretty fairly balanced, neither is that much smarter or dumber than the other, just that the way they were raised and the way their intelligence is being used are very different, but both useful in their respective series!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I believe L would possibly be smarter!. Sure he and Shikamaru are equal in strategies and stuff, but L still is slightly smarter to do the technology and his constant growing smarts!. You see Shikamaru learns things at a slower pace, L jsut goes up and researches until his eyes practically bug out, so he's growing smarted almost every second!.

I think that shikamaru and L are smart in their own ways!. L is smart in technology, figuring out crimes, and concealing his identity!. Shikamaru is smart when it comes to figuring out strategies in combat!. Who ever said shikamaru is a slow learner is stupid!.!.!.!.!.he can come up with 200 different strategies to win a battle while fighting the battle!!
