Iga No Kabamaru
it's about an orphaned 15 year old boy called Kabamaru Iga No who grew up in the Iga mountains of Japan and was taught to be a ninja by his harsh and strict grandfather, his grandfather died (choking on rice cake) and his grandfather's lady friend was asked to raise Kabamaru in Tokyo.
it's a classic comedy.

Anyways, most of the anime I watch is romantic/comedy and sometimes with adventure..but here's a list I highly recommend.
Lovely Complex-Tall girl meets short boy and the story goes on from there. It's sweet with some sad parts in it but I love the story and drawings.
Howl's Moving Castle-One of the best anime movies and one of the first I have ever seen. There are many funny parts like when the main girl gets turned into an old woman and the bearded boy. It's about a girl who gets turned into an old woman and meets a wizard. Both of them try to stop violence and war.....that's basically a small outline to a very great movie.
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time-Definitely one of my favs. It's simple yet sweet and has some romance in it. Its about a girl who finds out she can leap through time and takes advantage of her ability. The story is just great.
Spirited Away-Great movie and the drawings are perfecto. It's about a ten year old girl who gets warped into another world while her parents are turned into pigs..i think. :)
Saiunkoku Monogatari-One of the first anime series I've watched and by far the very best. It has two seasons.
Ray the Animation-Lots of action and a romance plot integrated in it. Love it! Its about a girl who is an orphan and gets eye transplants in which enables her to see through patients and treat them.
Bokura ga ita-Sad at times but a great ending. A girl meets a popular guy who seems happy on the outside but sad on inside after the accident of his previous girlfriend. Through the ups and downs, the couple learns and struggles through life. Very touching btw.
Peach Girl-Makes you laugh a lot although sometimes the characters are just plain naiive. It's about a girl who is cautious of her tanned skin and tries to do anything to make it whiter. There are love triangles and a jealous friend. :)
Vampire Hunter D: Blood Lust- My very first anime I have ever watched and was the best back then. It's about a guy who is half vampire half human but fights against vampires. There's a romance in between this movie that makes the movie even more sweeter.
Rose of Versailles-A pretty old anime but it's about a girl who has been trained by her father to be a boy. She becomes a great general and leader. Her friend who is a servant boy likes her but keeps it inside. It's pretty slow at first but the ending gets better.
I would go on and on about my fav animes but then it would take up a lot of space. The newest anime i've seen lately is Death Note (good as hell) and Blood+(I loved it) and I'm about to watch Bleach and see what's up with that...

well of of course you already about it. but i love to spread my inuyasha knowledge around with everyone! its my fav topic!
It all really depends. Not so many people will like to sit down and watch all the 500+ in the series =/. Overall, I highly recommend One Piece since it is so worth watching. If they only want to watch short animes, the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya, elfen lied. Standard 24 episodes series: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ah Megamisama, Mai-Hime, any clamp series, Scrapped Princess, Lucky Star, Black Lagoon.
Um, i would really like to tell you about LIAR GAME eventhough it isn't an anime but a manga... It is so wisely made! The story tells about an organization who made the Liar Game to find out who is the LIAR KING!
Believe me, it is GOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!
