Just a cartoon.Bugs came out early 40's to battle with the sucess of Disney. Then in the early 50's a young artist named Tex Avrey came out with Tom & Jerry. There sucess was catpaulted a movie and I think of the actress right off my head.
Bugs Bunny was named after Ben "Bugs" Hardaway, a gag writer who had first suggested a furry comedian to counteract Daffy and Porky, and was created because the target audience at the time wanted a more clever character then the slapstick fools that Daffy and Porky are. That's what led to his popularity.
