inuyasha
and i like these movies
spirited away
howl's moving castle
princess mononoke
If you could recommend me some anime similar to the above that would be great but please don't mention any kidish anime's with boring plots such as ranma, narato,chobits,love hina cowboy bebop

The Twelve Kingdoms is a good anime. Here's the summary from wiki:
The story of the anime centers around a girl named Youko Nakajima from Japan, who is suddenly transported to another world and eventually discovers that she is the queen of the kingdom of Kei. This part of the story is based on the novel Tsuki no Kage, Kage no Umi (Shadow of the Moon, Sea of Shadow). This novel, and thus anime, follow the general Monomyth pattern, but several twists and inversions of the pattern give them originality.
Unlike Fushigi Yūgi, Twelve Kingdoms is not a romance anime, but closely traces the development of the heroine, Youko, describing how she finds a place for herself in this strange new world.

Not sure what "Narato" is, but Naruto is pretty good once you get past the Chunin Exams and skip fillers.
okay , here are some of the animes that i think rocks!!!
-fushigi yuugi (the best anime ever... it has romance, fantasy, action and lots of comedy)
-hunter x hunter (awesome)
-kaze no stigma (awesome too.... action, fantasy and romance)
-harunakaru no naka de hachiyoushou (similar to fushigi yuugi but the protagonist is way better)
-prince of tennis (awesome! awesome! awesome!)
-major (awesome too... its about baseball but the character is like ryoma in prince of tennis but a lil talkative)..
-wolf's rain
-initial d (all stages)....... (this one's awesome... though in the first to third stages, the animation isn't quite great but the story is awesome .... when you reach fourth stage the animation changed quite a bit dramatically and it just made the anime more awesome!!!)
-ginban kaleidoscope (comedy and romance , though in the end, i cried ...)
-NANA (not for minors, very realistic, touching and awesome plot!)
