no none of them really show until they all get active in naruto shippuden
they only show up in shippuden and thats when the story really starts

No~ I guess because they're such important ppl that they can't use them in fillers, popping out of nowhere for no reason. They're really key to the story in a way, so they're always 'anticipated' by the fans :D
