Whats Kira??!

Question: from death note??

Answers: from death note??

Kira is the killer from the manga Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. It is about a straight-A student, Light Yagami, who is bored and finds a mysterious notebook with "Death Note" written on it. He writes a name of a criminal in it and he dies. Then he meets a Shinigami (God Of Death) named Ryuk. Light wants to create a "New World" with no crime by killing crimnals. The Japanese Task Force is trying to find the killer. They call him "Kira." Light's father is the chief of police and has no idea his son is a murderer. His father works along with L, the greatest detective alive. He suspects Light Yagami, and he is correct! The rest of the story goes is basaically Kira Vs. The govenment/Japanese Task Force. It has many characters and plot twists that are awesome.

In my opinion, the best anime ever. Read it, I bet you'll like it!!!

Light Yagami

Kira is a Japanese word meaning "Killer"

He is the criminal of the book
and there for they gave him the nickname "Kira"

a human he just got a death note so yea

Kira is a nickname given by the people to Light Yagami:

Kira: Light Yagami(夜神 月, Yagami Raito?)
The protagonist of Death Note, Light is an extremely intelligent but bored 17-year old student. When he finds the Death Note, dropped in the human world by Ryuk (a shinigami), he decides to use it to kill all criminals and earns the title Kira. His ultimate goal is to cleanse the world of evil to create a utopia and then reign over this new world as its god.

a god that kills evil people

Kira is tha main antagonist in the Deathnote series.
the name kira is NOT killer in Japanese, but they used the word kira because it sounds like the english word killer.

Kira uses the death note to kill people, there is also a second kira who has the shinigami eyes.

but overall, Deathnote is one of my favorite animes!!

The term overall is used toward the humans who wield the Death Note. It's kinda the romanization of the English word 'killer'.

Kira in English means "to kill" and it was givin to the name of the person who had possesion of the Death Note and was constently killing criminals. It was first givin to Yagami Raito(Light Yagami) as pretty much a fan name for a serial killer, kinda like the Zodiac Killer in the US.
But after he gave up the Death Note it was passed on to someone else. Then that person was named Kira as well. Then so on and so forth until Raito(Light) finally got the notebook back and was soon once again Kira.

But all it is, is a silly little nickname for a serial killer in Japan.

[edit] Kira does mean(in modern times today) "to kill" for anyone who didn't know that. But there are lots of other ways to say "to kill" in japanese, the author just chose Kira because it sounded like killer in english.
The author also speaks english if you didn't know that either.
(expert reader here)

Kira is Light Yagami
The people of Japan do not know Light is the one killing criminals so they just call the person killing Kira

kira is the guy who killed a lot of criminals in death note...he is actually light yagami, who goes into 'kira mode' usually when his eyes turn blood red yea....''kira'' is a name the public gave to the killer...althought ''kira'' means killer, it isnt a direct translation of the word but a romanization of the borrowed english word, which is why it is written in katakana...

Kira is Light Yagami's public killing name.

kira(pronounced keela in Japanese) is not the Japanese word for killer. it is the miss pronunciation of the English word killer and was a slang term for the person who was killing people with a death note (although none of the general public new what the death note was at the time) that was created by a bunch fans of lights work.
