I've heard Book 3 is suppose to be the last season but there are still several episodes that haven't been aired/created yet. There is talk of a live action movie though, last i heard it was a done deal to be created and M Night Shyamalan is the director.
No, Avatar: The Last Airbender ends with Aang and his final confrontation with the Fire Lord in season 3. There are still eight episodes to be aired. However, Nickelodeon has picked up the Avatar franchise for three more seasons. The creators have expressed interest in doing the story of another Avatar with those three seasons. But, if the creators do not want to do it, then they won't happen. Which is probably the best move nick has made since canceling Jimmy Neutron.
This is supposed to be the last one. If they do more seasons with a different avatar , that means Aang would have to die at the end of this one. That would not be a good ending and would disappoint a lot of fans. The show has been going on since 2005, that's a long time for an animated series.
