Why do you love anime?!

Question: Some anime is cute and really funny and cool but, the only reasons I hate anime is becuase mostly, white, trashy girls like it and try to act like...well...you know. But, everyday, I hear "Blah blah blah Garra is soooo hot" WHo is this Garra? (i think he is from Naruto) and why do you wish you were japaneese? Why do you change your name to a Japaneese name? It's kind of annoying. ALso, every singly picture I see of a profile or something, it's anime. I have nothing agaisnt anime. I just want your opinion. Also, I have nothing agaisnt the Japaneese culture.(I am part Japaneese)

Couple of main reasons for loving anime:
(It's okay if you disagree with some of them)
=> Good artwork
=> Unique storyline
=> Very popular
=> Wide variety of genres
=> No age restriction; everyone can watch anime
=> Learn some Japanese cultures and language

First of all, the artwork is very polished, cute-looking, and is very attractive. The animation is also very real-looking and clean, and is very nice to see it. Couple of properties that make anime characters good-looking are the eyes, hair, body shape, and facial expression, and breasts of a girl (for boy). The eyes are nothing compare to any other animation from other country, since they're very shiny and good color. The hair, for girls, are usually pretty long and silky; for boys, usually short with spiky or other hair that's a bit "rough." For the body shape, girls are usually bit skinny and boys are usually medium sized. Facial expressions show the feeling of the character, like if a boy got pissed off, his face might be a bit simplified with an angry reaction. Funny facial expressions are like the #1 anime fans favorite. For boys, they sometimes look for the girl's breasts, which usually are medium sized.

Storyline, like other people said above, are very unique and the storyline are more realistic, long, complicated, and very interesting.

Well most of us like to choose things that are popular. =)

Anime come with so many genres, including popular ones like action, adventure, romance, and comedy, and as well as horror, sci fi, fantasy, game-based, and much more.

Everyone can watch anime, since there's no age restriction for watching; from a little child watching Pokemon, to teens watching Naruto/Bleach etc, to adults watching anything. Each anime has age restriction so people know what anime is appropriate for them.

........And finally, you can learn some Japanese cultures and language. For example, you can learn what food Japanese eat, some geography of Japan like its capital Tokyo, technologies, etc. If you watch a lot of subbed episodes, you can learn some simple Japanese words/phrases, like how to say hello, bye, thank you, sorry, etc. ^_^

By the way, Gaara is one of the popular characters in an anime Naruto, which is the most popular anime.

I like it because it's a hell of a lot more creative than the writing in American TV shows.

It def is creative, and I get to learn a lot about Japanese culture in the process, which I am very intrigued by. I dunno, though. There's something about a "cartoon" that's not a cartoon, but has an actual storyline that's fascinating. Also the art is great, especially some of the more varied stuff, like in Elfen Lied, for example. Plus, you can do a lot with animation that you either can't do with live action, or it would be very expensive to do live action. Plus, the facial expressions of some of the characters crack me up....
need some more reasons???

I like it because it's animation with characters, and I mean that the stories aren't like regular american animation (which I still love) that just goes for the joke everytime, but rather it's got a real storyline. Plus, most of the people aren't changing their name to a Japanese name, it's more in homage to an anime character they like. Like Gaara. Who is awesome.

Anime is better than cartoons because it isnt as kiddish then cartoons,I like anime more especially Naruto and Death Note but thats just my opinion! Plus Gaara isnt that cute lol..

Honestly...my brother introduced me to DBZ, so I started watching other anime like Bleach and Naruto and pretty soon i was addicted. I hope this answered your question.

You need to find some better people to hang out with... or at least see a different representation of anime fans.

I don't personally know any trashy white girls who like anime. Most them think they are little cartoons for kids (well, a lot of them are- but that's besides the point).

The reason we see so many people with anime avatars on here is simply because it's the Comics and Anime section. You go to a different section, and it becomes a rareity.

Anyways, the reason I love anime is because I love animation in general. Animation is able to achieve things with relative ease that are either impossible or ridiculously expensive to accomplish in live action production. I like the anime type of entertainment in particular, because they don't stray away from things that would be considered controversial in american cartoons. Murder (especially if it's the main character doing the murdering), sex (even controversial stuff like rape or gay love), no filter on language, etc, etc.

I like it because it's different than what I see on tv everyday. (which is mostly Reality TV, seriously, like we don't get enough of that everyday...) and I like the art and storylines. Plus, a lot of the animes out there are aimed towards my age group, unlike a lot of the cartoons that are on tv now-a-days.

It beats the hell out of the crap that America passes for T.V. these days....I'll stick to Family Guy, Boondocks and South Park ......and Anime of course ....^_^.... thank you!

Honestly, it really depends on which anime you see. If you based your entire opinion of anime on a viewing of a dubbed episode of Inuyasha, Cardcaptors, Fruits Basket, Hamtaro, or Sailor Moon, we've found your problem. It's all about selecting the right anime! Yes, the girls in Love Hina wear shirts with their impossibly large breasts popping out. That doesn't mean that all anime is filled with trashy white girls. In fact, much anime takes place in Japan with Japanese characters.

You may mistake them for Caucasian because of the many haircolors (brown, black, blonde, red, pink, purple, blue, white, etc.) but this is a tool used by the artist to depict the character's personality. (Redheads are usually feisty and hot-tempered, while blondes are often ditzy and empty-minded or self-centered and conniving.) However, just because a character has pink or blonde hair doesn't mean that they are "white". Take Momoko from Wedding Peach, or Himeno from Pretear. Both have hot pink hair, but they are both Japanese.

Another possible explanation for your confusion is the tendency for the characters to have large eyes. Yes, it is a stereotype that Asians don't have big eyes. However, it's also somewhat difficult to promote expression through cartoons, so the artists use lines, light, shadow, and eye shape to give an insight into the character's mind. Understand? It's all about portraying the personalities and emotions of each character.

After re-reading your question description, I've noticed that you contradict yourself. In the beginning you say that you hate anime, but in the end you say you have nothing against anime. Which is it? I suggest that next time you state your opinion more clearly.

Now to answer your question, I suppose I like anime because I enjoy the creatively twisted plot lines, complex characters, and fantastic art that is involved (at least with the good series'). A good anime series/movie generally has animation that is clean, beautiful, cute, and just appealing to the eye. Doesn't that alone attract some attention? Also, I am Japanese so I grew up with anime and it is part of my culture. Before you completely cut yourself from the world of anime, I suggest you give it a chance. Here are some series that I, as well as many others, have enjoyed. They should give you a better taste of what's out there.

Marmalade Boy
Ayashi No Ceres (Ceres Celestial Legend)
Pretear
Gakuen Alice (Alice Academy)
Kare Kano
Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play
Negima!: Magister Negi Magi
Ultra Maniac
Chobits
Kodocha: Sana's Stage
Please Twins!
Death Note
Suzuka
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka

I would also watch any of the Miyazki movies, like Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, etc. Make SURE that you watch it in Japanese, with subtitles if necessary. Dubbed audio takes away from the culture and origin of the anime.

Anyway, I hope this helps you understand!

I'm not into anime. The only anime series to ever keep my attention for more than half a year was .Hack (until I realized that everyones logics in that series sucked, like having people crying to death just because their characters are gonna be deleted as if they're gonna die).

I'm with u, why the hell do people like anime.

I'm part japanese too, and I love anime 'cause I've watched it since I was a little girl, also you get to learn from the japanese culture and some of the language too, I don't have a japanese name but I wish I did, anime is a complete culture not just some silly girls that see a series and call themself anime fans, is a lot more than that... but everyone has their own opinion, so you're free to think whatever you want. I don't think you've met real anime fans
