Question: Like, basically, there has been one chapter coming out, approximately every month. Thus, is there any reason why its coming out slowly?

the manga chapters have been published once a month since the beginning. That's y you get about 40 pages every time it comes out. It's not connected with the anime that has ended.
No idea on how long the series is gonna be cuz the mangaka has not given any clues(usually they would like CLAMP, Rumiko Takahashi) about it though i must admit that many important answers might have been answered but i don't think solving/saving Ametris will end the manga..

Well the story is already over sooo it takes time to come up with cool chapters so that it wnt make the original manga suckie :P
Well, there's a lot going on, plus with the art, the editing, the finishing touches and then the getting the okay from the publisher, it can take a while. I know, I'm heart-broken too. T_T I do wish it would come out faster, but mangaka's work freakin' hard, so I'm not going to complain about the...pace....oh...no offense to you of course! ^_^;
edit: I have a feeling that it's going to end within maybe...20 or more chapters. I don't know, maybe I'm stretching, maybe I'm underreaching. But with "Father"'s announcement of the end being here, I think the story is going to be wrapped up soon, maybe even within this year. T_T So sad.
Plus, I just totally rambled up there, acting like I knew what I was talking about >.> I just answered because it had to do with FMA. >.<
