Do people who watch anime get discriminated against?!

Question: do you find that people judge you or call you names just because you like anime?

Answers: do you find that people judge you or call you names just because you like anime?

Yes, but that will change soon. Robin Williams is leading a reform. You see, In Alabama, anime fans are forced to move to the back of the bus if a Jock ask them to. One girl named Morgan Webb who was visiting Alabama refused to get up. Therefore, she was arrested by Al Kahn. Robin Williams is now leading the Montgomery bus Boycott, demanding that Mecha fanboys have the same rights as Football fans.

(Robin Williams is a NGE fan and Al Kahn is the head of 4K!DS)

The worst thing I have been called it a geek, or a nerd, but that is not just from watching anime. Really, who cares?

They get stereotyped- just like everyone else does.

Yep, but they are fools. So their opinions dont really matter to me.

yea but they don't say to my face they say it behind my back they to scared to but i really don't care what they say

OH hell yeah! I dunno why it's too different for all the stupid people in the world

Nope, I'm always wearing anime/video game shirts, wrist bands, etc to school and I never have any people call me anything. Actually, I've made a lot of friends over it.

the closet to name calling I've gotten is "why does that girl on your shirt have a mini skirt on" lol

not always just at time but i don't care anime rocks.

Yeah I hate that why am I judged by what I like?.That's why I try never to judge anyone. If you like Anime fine, if you like Star Trek it's okay to me.Even if you watch Teletubies I won't judge you promise.(although if you like the Teletubies I'll think you're weird but is being weird a bad thing?I don't think so.)

Sometimes, people just don't get it. Just because they don't like it they think we're weird or something or for some reason they often think we don't have a life. Discrimination is so wrong, I never ever discriminate against anyone. Everyone has different things they're into and that's great! :) As long as you're happy and you're not hurting anyone it's completely fine. :)

I ask that question all of the time. I know people who will tell me that Anime makes no sense, then I will turn to them and say that the same can be said for comic books, graphic novels, and sci-fi, but we read them and watch them don't we? Now, when I first heard of Anime, I pre-judged. I thought that it was all Astro Boy, Speed Racer, Sailor Moon, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, you know mainstream, but I was wrong. I was soon introduced to Robotech, and that completely changed the way I looked at Anime. Now, I also watch GTO, Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, Bleach, Van Dread, Excel Saga, ROD, Blood Plus, and many others. Anime is a lot more than people make it out to be. Do not do what I did and pre-judge Anime just because all you have seen is the mainstream. Watch Robotech, watch Fullmetal Alchemist, watch Death Note, watch GTO, watch Van Dread, and then tell me that Anime is not for you.

Well I hang out with a lot of people who watch anime as well. It also helps that I go to an art school, so I'd have to say that I've never been put down because I like anime. Although, some of the teachers at the school hate anime, and that I don't understand. It's a very popular artform and personaliy I think the school should have a class or two in drawing it.

not me i used to.

Yes. People are too stereotypical. So what if we like anime. . .
Labels are for cans, NOT people. >:|

Ive made friends because of anime but some people think im stupid for watching it because they think its little baby show my brother even makes fun of me for watching it even though when he was younger he used to watch dbz. most people just ask what its and they always compare it to like yugioh and pokeman (dont get me wrong i used to watch them) but now there for younger kids, whenever people say that anime is for kids i always tell them soldiers watch them and everything i read or watch is for teens. but anime rocks and ill always love it in tell i die

Unlucky yes as people - in meaning of not-Asia realm - think that it's childish, stupid, weird and brutal. Such dualism in opinions make it easier for people to put this form of art in negative light.
